Watching Republican “debates” - a trip to Neverland
I haven’t watched all these debates, usually not having the stomach for them, and waiting for the media’s endless post-mortems the next day. However, I did watch the one Tuesday night - I could not believe these people are running for President.
For President.
Of this country.
Of the U.S.
Of the most powerful country on earth.
You’ve gotta be kidding.
Just a few observations:
1. Jon Stewart has it right: Republicans love America as a country but hate most of its people. See http://tpmlivewire.talkingpointsmemo.com/2011/10/jon-stewart-gop-loves-america-but-hates-most-of-its-people-video.php?ref=fpb
2. Herman Cain proves two things:
a. To be a black Republican front-runner, you have to be just as insane as the white Republican candidates.
b. For those who missed this before, there are idiotic black folks, just as there are idiotic white folks.
I do not believe that all Republicans are crazy or immoral or cruel or selfish or idiotic - but their leaders clearly are all the above - and that says some very negative things about their supporters who let them get away with being crazy, immoral, cruel, selfish, and idiotic.
The problem with Republicans is that they choose to be ignorant. It’s a chosen way of life. They weren’t born that way - at least, not all of them. Many were born with good brains and intelligence and often really do want to do the right thing, but too many of them (the majority, I guess) choose ignorance instead of enlightenment. They wear ignorance as some kind of badge of honor. That’s sad to me, very sad.
But what’s even sadder is that they might just be controlling this country again - and that says something even sadder about Democrats.
